There’s a boy called Conner and his Mum is slowly dying of cancer. Conner’s Dad lives in America with another family. One night a monster calls and tells him three stories over different nights and then Conner has to tell his story – the story of the truth and by telling the truth he sets himself free.
What are the main characters – what are they like?
Conner is a young boy about 12-13 years old who loves his Mum more than anything and lives a very hard life. The Mum is slowly dying of cancer but still believes that she’ll get better. The Grandma is strong and powerful but can be soft. The monster is old, wise and strong at heart.
Recommendation
This book makes you cry and weep but makes you feel differently about life and how unfortunate some people are. I think it’s an amazing book and when you’ve finished you just want a hug from your Mum.
